I am a junior high librarian who is very interested in discussing YA books. I like to stay on top of what's being read by 7th and 8th graders. The most popular books in my library this year is romance, urban fiction, paranormal, graphic novels, sports, humor, dystopian/sci-fi and fantasy. Series like Bluford High, Southside, Hunger Games, Mortal Instruments, Pretty Little Liars, Harry Potter and Vampire Academy are most popular. Books by these authors stay checked out: Rick Riordan, Nikki Carter, James Patterson, Sharon Draper, Stephanie Perry Moore, Meg Cabot, Nicholas Sparks, Jeff Kinney, and Lincoln Peirce.
Newer authors that we love include: Marie Lu, Kristin Cashore, Lisa McMann and Rick Yancy.
