SimplyBkuz (USA: CA) (2008/09/14): This book was just ok for me. There is a twist that I didn't see coming, points for that, but it didn't take me away like most good books do. It was a bit of a chore to get through, in my opinion.
Sharon (USA: CA) (2009/01/27): This was an enjoyable gothic novel. It was fairly well written. I did feel that the author was tired of writing by the end of the book and just hurried the end along. There are a lot of twists and surprises.
WelshHelen (United Kingdom) (2009/03/12): What an enthralling, satisfying read! I became completely involved in the lives of Margaret, Adeline, Emmeline and the other inhabitants of Angelfield and thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns the characters took throughout the story. How wonderful to read a book full of literary references which didn't come over as smug or too "clever".Kudos to Setterfield on her debut novel - I do hope she writes more, though I can't find anything to suggest that she is :-( This is easily in my Top 5 books of 2008.
Space Station Mir (USA: MD) (2009/08/24): I did enjoy this book, Setterfield is amazing with descriptions. However, I am not the fondest of the mystery genre, and I don't think I will read this again, so someone else can appreciate it!
Ramey (USA: FL) (2009/09/26): I LOVED this book! It's was creepy but not supernatural.
